Religious Life Guidelines

Religious life is based upon the work of God in the new birth, justification, and the forgiveness of sins. The goal of religious life is to conform to the image of Christ and, as a result, to share in God’s rule on the earth for the glory of God. A healthy religious life is shown in repentance of sins, and faith and obedience. A religious life is also shown in good works, and reading the Bible daily. For you to Live a Religious Life you should:

Repent

Firstly, repenting means recognizing that you have thought wrongly in the past and determining to think rightly in the future. Repentance is the change in one’s way of life as the result of a complete change of thought and attitude about sin and righteousness. A person who has repented has second thoughts about the mindset he formerly embraced. There is a new way of thinking about God, about sin, about holiness, and about doing God’s will. God commands all people everywhere to repent in Acts 17:30-31. Peter gives this command on the Day of Pentecost according to Acts 2:38. In repentance, we are to turn from our sin and to trust in Jesus Christ the Savior and Lord. Without repentance, there is no religious life.

Follow God’s Principles as a  Son of God

Additionally, the Holy Spirit brings us into the family of the Bible and uses the phrase “sons of God” for both men and women. Adoption as God’s child expresses the wonderful truth that each of us enters by grace into the privilege of the sonship of Jesus. It is a wonderful thing to be a child of God as written in 1 John 3:1-2. All who are adopted into God’s family may share the assurance that God has predestined us for this in his love.

Do Good Works

Matthew 5:16 says good works are good deeds. Good works are simply good actions. To live a Christian life, you should do good actions. God is the creator and definer of good. Good work is to do everything God says is good. For example, the Bible tells us that God’s law is good and is given for our good. Deuteronomy 10:13 says, “Keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good,”
